New York City: Buckingham Hotel: "Great Stay for the Price and Location!"

Myself and a few friends stayed at the Buckingham April 26-May1, 2005. We got a great rate and decided to skip the small hotel rooms we had previously stayed in in NYC. The room was very large and spacious, more the size of a 1Bd apartment. (Many people live in this building as well as the hotel guests). Our room was very clean, we had a full spacious kitchen, a large living room with a kitchen table, loveseat and sofa with pull out bed. We were in a corner room so we had windows facing both 56th and Broadway. Of course it is loud there, but it is NYC, you should expect street noise anywhere you stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful at the front desk....they gave us directions on several occasions. If you have never been to NYC, this is a great deal and having subway stations on each corner is very convenient. You can walk to Central Park, 5th Ave shopping and times square from here, but lower manhattan is definitely a subway ride. (Believe me, we are from Southern Illinois and scared to death to ride the subway, but it was no problem at all!! Very cheap too). We are going back to NYC in the fall and will definitely stay at the Buckingham again. I agree with the other posters, the hotel is very clean and a great deal, but the rooms are not as modern as those shown on the website.
