BUCKINGHAM HOTEL HOSTS DJANGO ACOUSTIC JAM

Legendary Gypsy Musicians To Perform Prelude To

 “Spirit of Django Reinhardt” Concert

Free Live Preview Open to the Public at Buckingham Hotel, 101 West 57th Street

(off 6th Avenue), Martinelli Penthouse on Tuesday, July 26th at 11 am

NEW YORK CITY, NY, July 20th, 2005 – Midtown Manhattan’s historic Buckingham Hotel, home away from home to generations of musicians, will honor the music of the King of Gypsy Swing, Django Reinhardt, with a free preview atop the propriety’s Martinelli Penthouse on July 26th at 11 am with sweeping views of Central Park and Midtown Manhattan as a backdrop.

An acoustic preview of Reinhardt’s music will be performed by the stars of The Sprit of Django Reinhardt Concert, as they prepare for the big concert the following day at the nearby Lincoln Center’s, Alice Tully Hall for the third year, produced by Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta.

“We are honored to host these musical greats for this rare, intimate preview before they take the stage at Lincoln Center,” stated Buckingham Managing Partner, Stephen Shapiro.  “Over the last three quarters of a century, the Buckingham Hotel in New York has developed a storied history of connecting with legendary performing artists from opera legends to jazz greats.  This group of fabulous artists is no exception -- and they truly embody the ‘spirit of Django’.”

Hot Jazz legends such as legendary gypsy guitarist Angelo Debarre, virtuoso violinist Florin Niculescu, accordion whiz from Paris Ludovic Beier, young gypsy star Samson Schmitt and guitar wizard Joscho Stephan from Germany will  “jam” at the Buckingham Hotel’s Martinelli Penthouse for your preview pleasure, in Reinhardt’s memory.  The Buckingham extends this rare offer to the public for this intimate preview on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Buckingham Hotel, which was recently redesigned with a musical theme, has been the host to musicians performing at the neighboring Carnegie Hall, and nearby Lincoln Center, for generations.  Located just next to Central Park at 101 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues, the Buckingham is easily accessible by the subways A, B, C, D, E, F, N, R, Q, W, 1 and 9.
