Tips for exporing New York
By JOHN ENGSTROM P-I LIFESTYLE EDITOR
Buckingham Hotel -- This all-suite property`s modestly priced rooms (modest for New York, that is) provide the most space for the dollar in Manhattan, according to a hotel boast, and they`re probably right. The suites are extremely generous in size, and a kitchenette is a great bonus that helps save money.
Parts of this older property in a great Midtown location have recently been renovated, including a cheerful and user-friendly gym, though it retains the feel of a historic, comfy old slipper. Among some New York visitors, it`s known as a bargain "find".
Its connection to Carnegie Hall, across the street and a short way down the block, is a plus, and the hotel has housed many of the hall`s performers over the years. It`s also connected to a big New York jazz festival every summer.
